Is your air conditioning system ready to keep you cool and comfortable this summer?

Your heating and cooling systems need regular maintenance to operate at peak performance, and spring is a logical time to do a check-up.  Consider the benefits of an air conditioning “Spring Check-Up”:

You’ll save money.  A poorly tuned air conditioner wastes both energy and money.  In fact, by having a system cleaned and maintained by a trained professional, you can save an average of $32 a month on your summer cooling bills.

You can prevent emergencies.  Regular maintenance can detect minor air conditioner problems before they turn into major system failures.  Since replacing a compressor can be costly, a small investment in regular tune-ups can mean big savings in the future.

Equipment lasts longer.  Operating your air conditioner during the summer is like driving a car about 40,000 miles at 30 mph.  Without regular maintenance and cleaning, parts and major components can break down under this heavy workload.  A well-maintained system lasts longer.

Tips For Preparing For Summer

    1. Inspect windows and doors for drafts.  Use caulk to insulate cracks around doors and windows and replace old caulk when necessary.
    2. Raise your thermostat.  Set your thermostat to the highest comfortable temperature.  Raise a few more degrees when you leave your home or go to bed.  A programmable thermostat can be set to automatically fluctuate your home’s temperatures based on your schedule.
    3. Consider installing an attic fan or vent to help remove the hot air that builds up in your attic.
    4. Seal leaks in your air conditioning ducts.
    5. Change or clean air filters.
    6. Keep window coverings closed during the day to prevent the daytime heating from warming your home.
    7. Change your ceiling fan’s direction to blow air down.  A good rule of thumb is to run your ceiling fan counter-clockwise in the summer and clockwise in the winter.
    8. Plant a tree.  Trees provide shade and are natures’ air conditioners.
    9. Have your air conditioning system inspected by a qualified cooling professional.
